Mets Showing Interest In Marwin Gonzalez
4 years agoThe New York Mets have shown interest in utility man Marwin Gonzalez, according to a source. Gonzalez is attractive mainly because of his versatility around the diamond, as he has played seven positions in his career, including six in the last two seasons. He's coming off a down year offensively, but he slashed .264/.322/.414 with 15 home runs in his first season with the Twins and can also hit from both sides of the plate. At least six teams, including the Boston Red Sox, have shown interest in the 31-year-old. The Philadelphia Phillies are another team known to be interested. Gonzalez has a .729 career OPS and can bring a little pop and a lot of positional flexibility to AL/NL-only lineups. He has a current ADP of 451 because he's still without a team and isn't an everyday player, so he'll likely go undrafted in most mixed leagues.
