Mets Acquire Bobby Wahl and William Toffey
6 years agoThe A's and the Mets have finalized the deal for relief pitcher Jeurys Familia. Along with the prospects Bobby Wahl and William Toffey, the Mets received international slot money to use for a future signing. Only Toffey is in the Oakland A's top 30 prospects list according to MiLB Pipeline, but for an expiring deal that's not a terrible return. Toffey was a fourth-round pick in last year's draft and is only in High-A ball, but projects as a good fielder with decent hitting tools. So far in the minors, he has shown a great eye for the ball with a 15% walk rate in over 100 games of play. Wahl is not as impressive a prospect. He is an older at 26, but projects as a decent middle reliever which the Mets desperately need. Wahl has pitched in Triple-A since 2016 and came up for a few games last season so he should be in the bigs a lot sooner than Toffey.
