McVay Says Rams Will "Ask A Lot" Of Cam Akers
4 years agoWhile the Los Angeles Rams are unwilling to commit to a starting running back going into the season, it seems safe to say that rookie Cam Akers will get a good amount of work regardless of the pecking order. In a recent interview, Rams head coach Sean McVay said, "He’s a young player, but we’re going to ask a lot of him." Akers enters the season in something of a time-share with Darrell Henderson Jr. and Malcolm Brown, but Akers certainly has the most appeal of the trio. Henderson and Brown averaged 3.8 and 3.7 yards per carry, respectively, last year and have yet to show the potential to be reliable No. 1 backs. Akers is a great running back to target in drafts with the potential to have a big rookie year in a great offensive system.
