Max Scherzer Throws Shutout, Steals Base
7 years agoWashington Nationals starter Max Scherzer made history on Monday night by pitching a two-hit shutout while striking out 10 batters. The historical part? He also stole a base, the first of his career. Only Nolan Ryan has thrown a 10-strikeout shutout and stolen a base in a game. Scherzer needed only 102 pitches to dispatch the Braves. He's in midseason form and gave the bullpen a break after their late 12-inning game on Sunday. There are few people who wouldn't agree that Scherzer is the best pitcher in baseball right now.
