Max Scherzer Outduels Clayton Kershaw In Friday Matchup
7 years agoWashington Nationals starter Max Scherzer won the battle of the titans in Los Angeles on Friday. Despite giving up a first-pitch leadoff triple to Chris Taylor and a subsequent HBP to Corey Seager, Scherzer rebounded by not allowing a run in the first. He was finally tagged for one earned run, his only one, in the sixth, his final inning. All in all, he gave up four hits, struck out nine and walked four. Scherzer is having a fine season. He hasn't given up more than two earned runs, nor given up more than six hits, in any contest. He is laying claim, game-by-game, to the title of best pitcher in baseball. He'll next take the mound in pitcher-friendly PNC Park in San Francisco on Wednesday.
