Max Scherzer Officially Heading To The Rangers
1 year agoNew York Mets ace Max Scherzer was traded to the Texas Rangers in exchange for prospect Luisangel Acuna on Saturday. The 39-year-old will waive his full no-trade clause so the deal goes through. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, Scherzer exercised his player option (43.33 million) for the 2024 season, and he will be a Ranger throughout the end of his contract. Texas is paying Scherzer $22.5 million, and the Mets are paying it down to that level. He owns a 9-4 record, a 4.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 121:30 K: BB across 107 2/3 innings in 2023. Scherzer has allowed two earned runs or less in five of his previous eight starts. The veteran will give the Rangers a massive boost to their starting rotation. Scherzer will make his Rangers debut sometime in the middle of next week.
