7 years agoWashington Nationals starter Max Scherzer was put in the hole by his own team in the first inning of Wednesday's contest versus the Braves. After giving up a two-out double to Freddie Freeman, Wilmer Difo missed a ground ball that would have ended the inning. Now with two runners on, Scherzer hung a curveball to Preston Tucker, who hit a three-run shot, his second in two days. Scherzer would later give up two earned runs and throw 110 pitches through five innings. He gave up six hits, struck out seven and walked two. It wasn't his sharpest outing, but an ace like him shouldn't be doubted at this point in the season.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
