Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Max Pacioretty (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve earlier on Friday. In a corresponding move, the Leafs recalled defenseman Marshall Rifai from the AHL. Since this move to the IR is retroactive to February 8, Pacioretty is eligible to return after Friday's contest. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to their next game on Sunday evening against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Over his previous five contests, Pacioretty has tallied one point (one helper) with a +0 rating, 13 shots on goal and 16 hits. Across 37 games played, the 36-year-old has found the back of the net five times and added eight helpers. While Pacioretty remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Pontus Holmberg to continue to play on the second offensive line.

Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Max Pacioretty (undisclosed) will remain sidelined on Tuesday evening when the Leafs face the Boston Bruins. Pacioretty has missed their previous two contests due to this injury and could face an extended absence. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Friday evening against the New York Rangers. As a result, Alex Steeves will remain in the starting lineup and play on the fourth line. Throughout his time in Toronto this season, Pacioretty has played primarily in the middle-six role but has occasionally seen time on the second line. Through 37 games, the 36-year-old has scored five goals and added eight helpers. When he does return, he will only carry value in deeper formats.
