Matthias Schmid A Risky Option At Silverado
1 year agoMatthias Schmid is a bit of an unknown heading into the Fortinet this week. The second-year PGA Tour pro finished the 2023 season with a T20 at the 3M Open and a T22 at the Wyndham Championship, and he's also shown top-10 upside with his T8 finish at the Barbasol Championship in July of 2022 and his T6 finish at The American Express in January of this year. But he missed the cut in 12 of his 19 PGA starts in 2023, and he enters the field this week ranked 121st and 107th from the key approach proximities of 100-125 and 125-150 yards, respectively, over the last 50 rounds. He also ranks 70th overall in putting, and lost over a stroke on the greens here last year en route to a middling T59 finish. Fantasy managers would be wise to limit their exposure to the high-risk, high-reward 25-year-old German.
