Matthew Stafford Not Expected to Play Against Chicago
5 years agoIn a surprise turn, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is now being considered unlikely to play when the Lions visit Chicago on Sunday afternoon. After lingering concerns about a back injury, team doctors will not let Stafford play today due to fractured bones in his back. Given the apparent seriousness of the injury, it's unclear when Stafford will be able to return to action. Jeff Driskel will start for the Lions in his place, and all Lions pass-catchers get a significant downgrade. Kenny Golladay is now a WR3 at best, Marvin Jones is a FLEX option, and T.J. Hockenson is a desperation play at tight end. Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic become flex options at best based on the Lions assumed reliance on the run game.
