Matthew Stafford Could Get Back On Track In Week 6
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has a home game against the flailing Carolina Panthers in Week 6. After two straight losses against 2021 playoff teams, a stretch in which the Rams only scored a single touchdown, a home game against the 1-4 Panthers, who just fired their head coach and who will be starting their No. 3 quarterback, P.J. Walker, should be a welcome reprise from a tough early schedule for the defending Super Bowl champs. The Panthers defense is not a weak link. They have some playmakers in LB Frankie Luvu and DE Brian Burns. But they are not close to as fierce as the defenses of the last two teams that shutdown the Rams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. The Panthers offense, however, is a trainwreck, which ranks last or close to last in many categories. As a result, the Panthers are not moving the ball, and they rank dead last in time of possession. The Rams should get to control the pace of play and put Stafford in more conducive situations to producing sustained offensive drives. The last time Stafford faced a team that had a losing record in 2021 was in Week 2, when he finished as the QB10 against the Atlanta Falcons.
