Matthew Knies Nets Game-Winner On Friday
1 month agoToronto Maple Leafs left wing Matthew Knies scored the game-winner to lift Toronto to victory over the New York Rangers on Friday evening. Even though the Rangers dominated the shot total, Knies was able to break the stalemate in the third period when he beat New York netminder Igor Shesterkin on a wrist shot. Knies also logged one hit and blocked shot in this contest. This outing snapped Knies's four-game goal drought. During this minor slump, Knies tallied just one helper and averaged one shot on goal per game. However, before this skid, the 22-year-old tallied nine points (five goals, four helpers) with two shots on goal per game with 2.3 hits per game. Fantasy managers should continue to view Knies as a solid option in DFS as he plays alongside Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews on the top forward line.

John Tavares, Matthew Knies Could Return On Saturday
2 months agoAccording to Mark Masters of TSN, Toronto Maple Leafs forwards John Tavares (lower body) and Matthew Knies (upper body) could return to the starting lineup on Saturday evening to face the Edmonton Oilers. Tavares has been sidelined over the past six games but has resumed skating this week, which is a positive sign. Knies has missed the last two contests and is trending towards a quick return. Before the injury, Tavares tallied four points over his previous six games. Across 44 total games, the 34-year-old has tallied 42 points. Knies was enjoying a nice offensive surge as he tallied 12 points, including seven goals in 10 games before his injury. Both forwards would be expected to return to the top six on Saturday night and would be viable options in DFS.

Matthew Knies Targeting Saturday Return
2 months agoAccording to Darren Dreger of TSN, Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Matthew Knies (upper body) is hoping to return to action on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers. Knies sustained this injury on January 22 during their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Knies sat out on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators and will now miss his second-straight contest on Wednesday evening against the Minnesota Wild. Before his injury, Knies tallied 12 points (seven goals, five assists) over his previous 10 contests. During this stretch, he has held a +2 rating while totaling 33 hits and eight blocked shots. While sidelined this evening, fantasy managers should expect Bobby McMann to continue to operate as the top left wing alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

Matthew Knies Has No Timeline To Return, Deemed Day-To-Day
2 months agoToronto Maple Leafs winger Matthew Knies (upper body) is day-to-day after leaving Wednesday's game early with an upper-body injury. Knies wasn't given a timeline to return, so it is unlikely that he will come back for Saturday's game against the Ottawa Senators. Knies has been a key part of Toronto's first line this season, scoring 18 goals and 13 assists while adding 81 shots and 109 hits. Bobby McMann will take Knies' spot on the first line and could be a quality addition in fantasy as he also has a spot on the Leafs' top powerplay unit.
