Matthew Fitzpatrick Has Struggled In Open Championships
6 years agoMatthew Fitzpatrick will try to improve on his past Open Championship results this week. The young star has played well in both 2018 majors, logging a T38 at the Masters and an impressive T12 at the U.S. Open. Surprisingly, the Englishman has struggled in Open Championships over his short career. Fitzpatrick's career-best Open finishes are a pair of T44's, that he logged in 2017 and 2013. The 23-year-old native of Sheffield, England should have an advantage on links-style courses, but has been unable to capitalize to this point. He will look to change his fortunes at Carnoustie, one of the most difficult courses in the Open rotation. Fitzpatrick played well in his warm-up at the Scottish Open last week, grabbing a T14 with a final score of 12-under par. He is a sleeper DFS option this week and makes for an interesting contrarian GPP play.
