Matt Wieters Has Oblique Injury
7 years agoWashington Nationals catcher Matt Wieters is suffering from a mild left oblique injury which has landed him on the disabled list. According to Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post, Wieters looked pained when he was throwing between innings Sunday in Cincinnati. He also didn't take batting practice nor start. Rookie Pedro Severino has been activated and will likely be the backup to Miguel Montero. Severino is an interesting flyer in what is basically a barren position. He's a must-add in two-catcher leagues and could easily ascend into the top ranks of the healthy catchers that remain.
