Matt Strahm May Not Be Ready To Start
7 years agoAJ Cassavell tweeted that San Diego Padres pitcher Matt Strahm may not be ready to start by Opening Day but can come out of the bullpen. Although he's competing for a back-end rotation spot, Strahm also projects to be a useful relief arm. Strahm is returning from a torn left patellar tendon suffered last July. He offers a four-pitch repertoire with a minor league K/9 of 10.9 and K/BB of 3.75. In 56 2/3 big league innings, Strahm has registered a 3.81 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 10.6 K/9. Earlier reports suggest he's impressed thus far in spring training.
