Matt Shoemaker Hit With No-Decision Against Mariners
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker didn't factor into the decision against the Mariners on Sunday. Shoemaker pitched five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters with just one free pass allowed. The veteran right-hander was cruising through five frames with no runs allowed but ran into trouble in the top half of the sixth inning, which saw him surrender two home runs. Shoemaker had his breaking stuff working against Seattle, as eight of his 11 whiffs- and all seven strikeouts- came via the breaking ball. The 34-year-old veteran has been solid in his two starts and could be a dependable back-end starter for Minnesota if he can stay healthy.
