Matt Shoemaker Gives Up Seven Runs In Wednesday's Loss
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker was shelled for seven runs, including two home runs, on seven hits in three innings of a 9-1 loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday. Despite the poor outing, Shoemaker managed to fan three batters, putting a positive spin on what was an otherwise tough day for the veteran. The 34-year-old had tossed 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball before this outing, so there isn't too much reason to panic so long as he's healthy. Shoemaker has the tools to be successful as the Twins' fifth starter- good strikeout and groundball rates with a low walk rate- though he'll be a tough sell to fantasy managers after pitching just 166 combined innings over the last four years.
