Matt Shoemaker Charged With Sixth Loss
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker was saddled with his sixth loss of the season in Sunday's defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Royals. Shoemaker allowed five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched. He fanned five batters compared to one walk issued. Shoemaker registered 10 whiffs and an average exit velocity of 79.8 MPH, though the results on the scoreboard to a very different story. A solid one-run outing was ruined by the fifth inning, which saw him allow three hits, a walk, and an error in what amounted to a four-run-inning for Kansas City. Shoemaker had pitched two straight solid outings before this, though his overall 5.90 ERA and 1.43 WHIP are very discouraging marks, particularly in roto formats.
