Matt Olson Scratched From Lineup Thursday
4 years agoOakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson (head) was scratched from the lineup Thursday after being hit in the eye with a ball during batting practice, according to Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News. Olson was in the batting cages Thursday morning, when a ball ricocheted off the cage and struck him in the eye. He's being examined now, and will not play Thursday, as Mitch Moreland will now get the start at first and hit sixth against Shane McClanahan and the Rays. Olson has looked much improved at the plate from 2020, slashing .296/.363/.580 with six home runs 17 RBI and 12 runs scored through his first 22 games of the year.
