Matt Olson Delivers Walk-Off Grand Slam
4 years agoOakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson started the season with a bang, or rather a slam as his extra innings homer lifted the A's past the Angels on Opening Day. In the first game with MLB's new extra-inning rules, the Angels wound up loading the bases to try and set up a double play. After Hansel Robles faced his three batters he was required to face, the Angels turned to lefty Hoby Milner. Olson made quick work of Milner depositing the first pitch into the right-field seats to win it for Oakland. Olson finished in the top-six percent of the league last season in average exit velocity (92.6 MPH), barrel rate (14.5 percent), and expected slugging (.582) and is quickly backing those numbers up in 2020. He's a top-five first base option in all fantasy formats.
