Matt Olson 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Disappointing 2024 Invites Draft Day Discount

Regression was to be expected but Olson's season-long totals of .247-29-98-78-0 disappointed those who chased him into the first round. Despite the slide, Olson still demonstrated generous power, finishing the year in the 83rd percentile in hard-hit rate (47.4%), the 84th percentile in barrel rate (12.4%), and the 85th percentile in average exit velocity (91.5 MPH). Those metrics fall below his career numbers but are in line with his 2021 season wherein he hit 39 home runs, 35 doubles, and 111 RBI. Had it not been for two separate month-long slumps, Olson would have had his fourth consecutive 30 HR, 100 RBI season. ATC predicts that he will get back in that groove in 2025, projecting 34 HR and 104 RBI for the slugger. At an ADP of 35.33, Olson's availability in the third round gives drafters the flexibility to nab an ace in the opening rounds or the opportunity to gain an early edge in hitting categories.
