7 years agoPittsburgh Penguins goalie Matt Murray will get the start in Game 4 versus the Flyers on Wednesday. Murray has only allowed five goals in the first three games of this series, but four of those goals came in Game 2. He has been very consistent in the other two games and is looking to be one of the top goalies on the night. He makes a solid play in terms of DFS and could be viable for all formats Wednesday.

Matt Murray Impresses With Shutout Versus Minnesota
1 year agoDallas Stars goaltender Matt Murray registered his first career shutout as the team skated away with a 4-0 road victory against Minnesota on Monday. The 25-year-old played in only his fourth career game and posted the shutout with 23 saves. Murray now carries a 2-2-0 career record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage. He might have to wait for his fifth appearance for a while, as Jake Oettinger (lower body) is on the cusp of returning, and Murray also has veteran Scott Wedgewood ahead of him on the depth chart.

Matthew Murray Requires "Significant" Surgery
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matthew Murray (undisclosed) is set to undergo "significant" surgery, and it's unclear if he can play in 2023-24. "The surgical procedure will be (to do with) something he's been dealing with," general manager Brad Treliving said on Wednesday. "It wasn't an event, but he aggravated some stuff over the summer." He added that Murray will need months, not days or weeks, to recover. Murray had multiple health issues last season and played his final game on April 2, when he suffered a concussion.

Matthew Murray Heading To Long-Term Injured Reserve
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matthew Murray (undisclosed) will be placed on long-term Injured Reserve ahead of the 2023-2024 NHL season. The team has ruled him out indefinitely while not disclosing the nature of Murray's injury. The two-time Stanley Cup champion had all sorts of injury troubles during his debut campaign in Toronto and last played on April 2 when he sustained a head injury. Murray finished the season with a 14-8-2 record while posting a 3.01 goals-against average with a .903 save percentage and one shutout. Ilya Samsonov, who has just been handed a new one-year deal in arbitration, looks set to do the heavy lifting between the pipes for the Maple Leafs next season with Joseph Woll as his backup.

Ilya Samsonov Replaces Injured Starter Matt Murray
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov replaced Matt Murray (undisclosed) after he sustained an injury in Sunday's 5-2 loss against the Red Wings. Murray was involved in an accidental collision with Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond, which caused Murray to fall awkwardly to the ice. Samsonov entered the game in relief and stopped 14-of-16 shots on goal in the loss. Murray has been unlucky with injuries throughout the season, with the two-time Stanley Cup champion missing extended periods of time and being limited to 26 appearances. Samsonov has done a good job as the starter and he will take command in the crease with six games remaining in the regular season.
