Matt Manning To Return Tuesday Versus The Rangers
1 year agoDetroit Tigers pitcher Matt Manning (foot) will return to a big-league mound Tuesday night versus the Texas Rangers. The young right-hander broke a bone in his foot after being struck by a seemingly innocent comebacker in his second start of the season against the Blue Jays, but he will get back to action more than two months removed from his injury. The former first-round pick made three rehab starts with Triple-A Toledo, pitching 8 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in the process. Manning worked to a 4.63 ERA in 11 2/3 MLB innings in April but also posted a strong 3.43 ERA (3.78 FIP) across 12 starts last season. He'll have a difficult matchup in his return against a Rangers offense that ranks third in baseball with a .339 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
