Matt Manning To Be Limited To Two-Inning Stints In Spring
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Manning will be limited to two-inning stints throughout the spring, according to Tigers manager A.J. Hinch. Manning has made two appearances so far this spring and has done well. He's pitched four innings and allowed four hits, one earned run and no walks while striking out three. In his most recent appearance against the Philadelphia Phillies, Manning's fastball topped out at 97 mph. The 23-year-old Manning is one of the team's top prospects. He's likely to start the year at Triple-A, though, as the Tigers have a lot of arms competing for a rotation spot right now and Manning is the only prime competitor without Major League experience.
