Matt Manning Optioned To Triple-A
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Manning was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. Following the move, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch explained that Manning should benefit from the delayed Triple-A season start. He explained that the team was "leaning towards leaving him here in a Minor League Spring Training setting to give him a normal workload to build himself up to be ready for a May Toledo start." Manning had a solid spring with the Tigers. He made three appearances and pitched six innings, allowing seven hits, one walk and one earned run while striking out five. The Tigers have a number of starting pitchers on their roster right now. Manning will have a good chance to make his MLB debut at some point this year, assuming he performs well in the minors.
