Matt Manning Leaves Game After Being Hit By Comebacker
1 year agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Matt Manning (ankle, foot) was removed from his start early in the first inning on Wednesday against the New York Yankees in the Bronx after he took a line drive off his right ankle/foot off the bat of outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. Manning made it just one inning in his start before departing, allowing one hit while walking one and striking out one. The 25-year-old will likely go for X-rays, and until we know more about the severity of his injury, he should be considered day-to-day. Manning has had an up-and-down year for Detroit in 2023, as he came into Wednesday's contest with a 5-4 record, 3.62 ERA (4.82 FIP), 1.03 WHIP, 20 walks and 49 strikeouts in 77 innings over 14 starts.
