Matt Magill Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
4 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Matt Magill (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery on Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the 2020 MLB season as a result. Magill came into the season as a closer option in a crowded (but not very good) Seattle bullpen, and he tossed nine scoreless innings mixed with a pair of poor performances that drove his ERA up to 6.10 for the season. Magill is still arbitration-eligible and will return to the Mariners next season (barring a trade), and the 30-year-old should be in the mix for a sizable role in the Seattle bullpen with his recovery likely to have him ready for the beginning of spring training.
