Matt Duffy Leads Off Game Thursday With A Homer
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Matt Duffy opened the game with a homer as the first batter of the game Thursday versus the Yankees. He would be thrown out at home trying to score another run later in the game. The home run was Duffy's third of the season to go with his .316 batting average. In his last healthy season in 2015, he batted .295 with 12 home runs and 12 stolen bases. Duffy's floor is fairly solid as long as he is healthy. Duffy was only 27 years old as the 2018 season started, so despite his slow start in the counting stats (runs, HR, RBI, steals), there is hope for a boost as the season goes on. He should be owned in deeper leagues, especially in AL-only formats.
