Matt Duffy Has Strong Game Off Bench Saturday
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Matt Duffy did not start the game Saturday versus Baltimore but still found a way to help his owners. He would come in off the bench to reward just two plate appearances. However, in those limited opportunities, he still provided two hits, a run scored, and two RBI. Duffy's batting average is now at .298 on his journey to try to become the first qualifying batter for Tampa Bay to hit .300 since 2011 (though Mallex Smith also could accomplish the feat if he can record enough times batting). He lacks power (four homers) while not compensating with a high steal total (10 so far). In the end, Duffy only offers strong assistance in one of the five traditional fantasy categories which makes it hard to suggest him outside of deep formats.
