Matt Crafton Replacing Cody Ware in Cup Race at Bristol Dirt
2 years agoMatt Crafton, a 3-time NASCAR Truck Series Champion and 15-time Truck race winner, has been tapped to race in this weekend's Food City Dirt Race at Bristol for Rick Ware Racing. He will be in the #51 Ford, usually driven by Cody Ware, who is stepping back this weekend due to a personal matter. This will be Matt Crafton's third-ever start in the NASCAR Cup Series. He finished 18th in the 2015 Daytona 500 and then 25th in a 2019 Cup race at Martinsville. As far as NASCAR dirt racing experience, Crafton has finished 14th and 9th in the two Truck races here at Bristol Dirt, and then at Eldora, he has one win and has never finished worse than 10th in seven total starts. While that's impressive, Crafton's equipment in this weekend's Cup race will likely limit him severely. Ware has finished 32nd and 26th in the two Cup races here at Bristol Dirt with this car.
