Matt Chapman Stays Hot At The Plate
3 months agoSan Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in Saturday's loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Chapman knocked a double to center field, which he eventually scored on due to a throwing error. Then, in the final frame, the 31-year-old launched his 16th long ball of the campaign. Entering this game, the third baseman was riding a stellar .375/.487/.656 slash line with two home runs, five RBI, and a 7:8 BB:K ratio through his last nine games. Overall, in his first season playing in the Bay Area, Chapman carries a .242/.33/.423 line with 48 RBI and a career-high 12 swiped bags. His excellent 12.1% barrel rate and 47.6% hard-hit rate suggest this power surge should continue all throughout the late summer. Chapman remains a solid option in DFS in favorable matches and a solid corner infielder with an upside for power in all standard leagues.
