Matt Chapman Reaches Base Twice In Thursday's Win
3 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman helped his team defeat the Los Angeles Angels 5-0 on Thursday. He went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run in the game. It's been an extremely rough May for Chapman, who is slashing .235/.330/.321 with just one home run over 24 games this month. He has a scary season-long xBA of .196, which ranks in the bottom 5% of the league. He has an average launch angle of 14.9 degrees, which is significantly down from his career-best mark in 2020 (24.1 degrees). We're about two months into the season, so it's not too early to dismiss the alarmingly slow start and concerning underlying stats. Chapman can be a drop candidate in shallow leagues. In deeper leagues, see if you can try and trade him off before his value drops even more.
