Matt Chapman In Midst Of Home Run Drought
3 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman hasn't been generating the power numbers we've seen from him previously so far this year. He currently has a .396 slugging percentage, a career-low. His career slugging percentage is .494. Unfortunately, his xSLG is even lower at .372, down from .535 last year. His hard-hit rate is also down from 51.7% last year to 39.4% this year. He's gone 12 games without a home run and has just five total home runs over 44 games on the year. Chapman has plenty of time to come around, but some of the early indicators are certainly scary. He should be held onto in all fantasy leagues. He has proven to be a streaky hitter, so there's a good chance a hot streak is ahead.
