Matt Chapman Expects To Be Fully Healthy For 2021
4 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman saw his 2020 campaign come to an early end after undergoing hip surgery. But Chapman revealed Wednesday that he anticipates being a full-go for the '21 year out of the gate. Having established himself as one of the game's premier defensive players almost immediately upon being granted the third-base gig with Oakland, Chapman has blossomed into an MVP candidate. His on-base percentage (.276) was far below expectations during the shortened season, but he produced a career-best .535 slugging percentage across 37 games. It remains to be seen how the A's move him along during Spring Training, but Chapman giving himself the thumbs up does wonders for his draft stock ahead of season-long leagues.
