Matt Carasiti Picks Up Monday's Save
1 year agoColorado Rockies reliever Matt Carasiti closed out Monday's 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox, throwing one inning while giving up one run on one hit. It was still a successful outing, as the right-hander earned his first save of 2023. Over 14 innings this year, Carasiti owns a 3.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP but is sporting a meager 12.1% strikeout rate and 10.3% walk rate. Fantasy managers targeting saves should hold off on the 31-year-old, as he lacks the stuff of a ninth-inning arm, and the club was likely giving Justin Lawrence, who's recently been the number one option in save situations, a rest after pitching back-to-back days.
