Matt Bush Records His First Save On Saturday
3 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Matt Bush closed out the team's 2-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday to earn his first save of the year. He retired each of the three batters he faced in the ninth inning while recording one strikeout. This was the Rangers' first converted save of the season. The team has had something of a cryptic bullpen through the early going, somewhat owed to the fact that the team had only won four games prior to Saturday's contest. Bush received a save opportunity this past Thursday, but wasn't able to convert it. It's especially encouraging to see him receive Saturday's save opportunity despite his failed attempt just a few days back. He seems to be the favorite for saves in Texas right now, but Joe Barlow could very well be part of the mix as well.
