Matt Breida Looks To Build Off Strong Start
6 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida (knee) was a full participant in Thursday’s practice. He should be ready to roll in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, who are ninth-worst in the NFL with 120.3 rush yards allowed per game. Breida is tied for the NFL rushing lead with 274 yards (8.6 YPC) and has also been worked into the passing attack, averaging three targets per game (seven total catches). This bodes well should quarterback C.J. Beathard struggle to stretch the field. The main risk is the Chargers taking the lead and controlling time of possession, phasing Breida out of the game plan. Breida is averaging 13 touches per contest and even though his value is dinged with Beathard behind center, he should retain RB2 value.
