Divish tweeted: "Dipoto said they plan to have Matt Brash come to spring training stretched out as a starter for depth purposes, but will move him back to the bullpen if the rotation remains healthy and unchanged." Brash appeared in 39 games for the Mariners as a rookie, making five starts and throwing 50.2 total innings at the Major League level. All told, he logged a 4.44 ERA and a 3.51 FIP to go along with 62 strikeouts and 32 walks allowed.
