3 weeks agoSan Jose Sharks defenseman Matt Benning (hip) looks good to go for the new season. Sharks general manager Mike Grier expects Benning to be ready for the start of training camp, noting that he's in a "good spot." Benning is working his way back from hip surgery he had in January. The 30-year-old managed to make only 14 appearances last season. He registered two assists, 13 shots, 29 blocks, and 19 hits. The eight-year veteran had his best campaign in 2022-23 with 24 points (one goal, 23 assists). Benning will look to get back on track this season, although there's a lot more competition on the blue line following the team's busy offseason.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
