Matt Beaty Making First Start As A Royal Tuesday
1 year agoKansas City Royals first baseman/outfielder Matt Beaty is in the starting lineup for the first time as a member of the club on Tuesday night against right-hander Michael Lorenzen and the Detroit Tigers. Beaty had his contract purchased from Triple-A on Sunday and entered the game as a pinch-hitter, knocking a single in his lone trip to the plate. The lefty-swinging Beaty also appeared in four games for the Giants to begin the season after struggling mightily to the tune of a .093 average without a homer across 47 plate appearances with the Padres in 2022. Beaty has had decent success against right-handers in his career, posting a .736 OPS and 98 wRC+ against them across 543 trips to the plate. He'll be the designated hitter out of the six-hole Tuesday night in Detroit.
