Matt Barnes' Spring Performance Impressing Alex Cora
4 years agoBoston Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes has been absolutely dominant this spring, and his performance has caught the attention of manager Alex Cora. Cora said on Sunday that his fastball looks the best it has in years, and he has done a good job cleaning up his delivery. Barnes has thrown four scoreless innings this spring, allowing just one hit and striking out eight. Barnes is in a tough fight with Adam Ottavino for the closer's job, but regardless of whether he pitches the eighth inning or the ninth inning, he will have value in holds leagues.
