Matt Barnes Records His First Save In Friday's Win
3 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Matt Barnes closed out the team's 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday to earn his first save of the year. Jake Diekman initially came on to start the ninth inning, but struggled with his command, walking three batters while recording two outs. Barnes then came in to face the final batter, Wander Franco, with the bases loaded and he managed to get Franco to ground out. Barnes has been dealing with back trouble throughout the early going this year, but Red Sox manager Alex Cora has repeatedly stated that Barnes will be the team's closer once he is back to form. He should be rostered in all fantasy leagues as there's a chance he will be the team's primary closer going forward now.
