Matt Barnes Moved To 60-Day Injured List
1 year agoMiami Marlins right-hander Matt Barnes (hip) was moved to the 60-day injured list on Friday to make room for new reliever David Robertson, who the team acquired in a trade with the New York Mets. Barnes had left hip femoral acetabular impingement surgery on Tuesday and remains at home in Connecticut. He will do at-home rest and therapy for two to three weeks, and the recovery timeline before he can resume baseball activities is three months. Barnes' 2023 season is essentially over unless the Fish make a deep postseason run. The 33-year-old initially slipped on the mound in the middle of may against the San Francisco Giants when he suffered his hip impingement. He had a 5.48 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 20 K's in 21 1/3 innings at the time of his injury.
