Masyn Winn Shows Patience On Monday
2 years agoHitting first for the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, shortstop prospect Masyn Winn went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a pair of walks. Winn has been off to a nice start this spring with six hits over his first 15 at-bats. He has also scored four runs to go along with a homer, two RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Behind third baseman Jordan Walker, Winn is the best prospect in the Cardinals system. Winn has always had elite defense, but he improved his patience at the plate and started elevating the ball more in 2022. This was evident with a .283 batting average to go along with 12 homers, 63 RBI and 43 stolen bases between High-A and Double-A. The Cardinals currently have infielder Tommy Edman slated to be the Opening Day shortstop with veteran Paul DeJong also on the roster and their current situation presents a hard situation for Winn to make the big-league squad. Managers in dynasty leagues should consider stashing the speedy shortstop, while redraft managers shouldn't expect much out of Winn for now with no clear path to playing time.
