Mason Miller Electric On Friday
9 months agoOakland A's pitcher Mason Miller was electric in his lone inning of work in Friday's Cactus League game versus the Kansas City Royals. The 25-year-old struck out the side on 16 pitches, reaching 101 mph on nine of his fastballs and even reached 103 mph on another. Miller showed power stuff in his 10-outing debut in his debut 2023 season but the oft-injured right-hander was sidelined for four months due to a UCL sprain in his right elbow. As a result, Miller will transition to a bullpen role in the 2024 campaign while A's skipper Bob Melvin said he would like to see Miller move up the bullpen hierarchy rather than use him as the team's closer right now. While he could turn into a dynamite closer at some point, he should not be drafted as such in 2024, especially on a poor A's club.
