Masahiro Tanaka’s Outing Breaks Down Late
Masahiro Tanaka suffered defeat in his first home start of the year on Thursday night. The Japanese native was brilliant for six innings, tossing a shutout as his offense managed one run in the fifth to give him a lead. In the seventh, however, things unraveled and quickly. After allowing a leadoff single, Tanaka surrendered a two-run home run, giving Baltimore the lead. Inducing a ground-ball out on the next batter, he allowed a single before getting pulled. That run would also come around to score, as the Yankees lost 5-2. While recording a quality start, it wasn’t enough for the 29-year-old this time around.
