Masahiro Tanaka Sensational In Seattle
6 years agoIn the aftermath of New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino's dreadful start in the series finale against the Oakland Athletics, starter Masahiro Tanaka was brilliant to open up a series in Seattle. The 29-year-old went eight superb shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 10. The performance was, perhaps, his best since a complete-game victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in July. With October fast approaching, the Yankees will probably have to make a decision for a starter in the AL Wild Card game and Tanaka seems to be the best bet, sporting a 2.30 ERA in nine starts since the All-Star break.
