Masahiro Tanaka Has Historically-Awful Start
5 years agoFor a first time in 96 years, a New York Yankees starter allowed 12 earned runs and it was Masahiro Tanaka Thursday night in Boston. The All-Star was absolutely demolished by the Red Sox, surrendering the 12 runs on 12 hits in 3 1/3 innings of work, with seven coming in the first inning. Two home runs highlighted Tanaka's woes as he also walked three and stuck out four. This was yet another troubling performance from a member of the Yankees' starting rotation as the pitching troubles loom even larger despite their AL-best record.
