Martin Truex Jr. Starts Daytona From 16th Position
2 years agoMartin Truex Jr. showed well enough during Duel 2 on Thursday night. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver combined that with a decent qualifying run. As a result, Truex Jr. starts the Daytona 500 16th on Sunday. His No. 19 car routinely turned in laps right around 50 seconds in practice and qualifying. Truex Jr. settled for second in 2016 at Daytona and has not come close since switching over to the Joe Gibbs team. He did lead 11 laps during the race last year and managed to win Stage 1 and Stage 2. Can his car stay fast in the later stages? That is the big question.
