Martin Truex Jr Needs to Turns Things Around with Playoffs Starting
3 months agoIf Martin Truex Jr is going to contend for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in his final full-time season, he's going to need to turn things around starting at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. Currently, Truex is on a five-race streak of finishes of 24th or worst, and he has ended up outside of the top 20 in nine of the last 12 races as well. The good news for Truex is that the playoffs start this weekend and he gets a clean start with the points reset happening. As far as Atlanta goes, MTJ finished 12th here earlier this year and has earned points in five of the last six Stages at this track. He qualified 22nd for this weekend's Quaker State 400 race, and although the finishes haven't quite been there lately for the No. 19 team, Truex still has decent Place Differential upside and could end up being a good DFS pick this weekend. In the five Next Gen races at Atlanta, Truex has the sixth-best average running position.
